a themed exhibition featuring ancient liangzhu relics and china's 5000-year civilization from liangzhu museum of hangzhou, zhejiang province, was named among china's top 10 best museum exhibitions in 2018, the top award in the chinese museum industry.
the announcement was made at a main event marking international museum day in hunan provincial museum on may 18.
it is the second time the museum has bagged the prize since 2008, while the china national silk museum in hangzhou was honored as the most innovative museum of the year.
the exhibition, composed of three parts, showcases the archaeological achievements and heritage values of liangzhu relics and culture as well as its important role in chinese civilization.
liangzhu culture (3400-2250 bc) was a late neolithic culture discovered 80 years ago by chinese archaeologists in the town of liangzhu, hangzhou. the glorious and primitive culture played a vital role in shaping ancient chinese civilization. more than 500 sites have been excavated to date, spanning east china's zhejiang and jiangsu provinces, and shanghai.
in 2018, liangzhu museum reopened to the public after 10 months of closure and rearranged the exhibition of more than 600 cultural relics, of which the use of technology, including 3d printing and digital multi-media projects, are among the major highlights.
