liuhe pagoda
liuhe pagoda, literally six harmonies pagoda or six harmonies tower, is located at the foot of yuelun mountain.
the pagoda was originally constructed during the northern song dynasty (960-1127 ad), destroyed in 1121, and reconstructed in 1165 of the southern song dynasty (1127-1279 ad).
liuhe, one of the oldest pagodas in china, is 59.89 meters high. the inner one to seven stories are made of brick and the outer eight to thirteen stories are of wood. it was once praised as a “general”.
it is also a renowned resort to witness the qiantang tidal bore in autumn. each year, a great number of visitors are attracted to climb the pagoda to enjoy the view.
