the 8th china tea olympics, the first tea skill contest for tea masters and companies in the nation, was held in longwu tea town, xihu district, hangzhou, capital of east china's zhejiang province, from sept 23 to 25.
the contest was launched by the china international tea culture association, the hangzhou government and the hangzhou tea research institute in 2014, with the aim of promoting a closer tie between people and companies engaged in tea sector and carrying forward traditional chinese culture.
the competition featured a national famous tea pastries contest, which was introduced to the tea olympics for the first time in history. contestants showcased their dishes which included tea as ingredients.
a tea-making skill match was also held between men and robots as part of the tea olympics.
