the memory of mankind — china's world heritage photography exhibition was recently held at the grand canal museum of beijing and beijing international hotel, with 152 picturesque photos on china's unesco world heritage sites by 134 photographers.
the exhibition will soon be held on nov 6 in guangyuan in sichuan province, and then goes to huangshan in anhui province, hangzhou in zhejiang province, and chaozhou in guangdong province until the end of this year. these hosting cities are either home to unesco world heritage sites or actively seeking unesco world heritage status.
"the exhibition showcases the spiritual symbols and cultural essence of chinese civilization, highlighting its unique features, fostering national pride and cultural confidence," says photographer zhou meisheng.
as a curator of the exhibition, he focuses on the outstanding universal values of the unesco world heritage sites, hoping to demonstrate the ability of photography to interpret such beauty.
"these works have made historical and cultural content related to audiences of different backgrounds, fostering empathy and resonance," says zhou pinglin, another curator of the exhibition and director of brand planning department of china photo press.
"we believe that this exhibition can help people from home and abroad learn more about china and appreciate such heritage," she says.
